Borderlands Stories

To support programming, we’ve been envisioning. We are thrilled to commission and develop Anita, a musical that centers a spunky Salvadoran immigrant girl. Anita reminds us of the power of ganas and hope, while celebrating the heritage music of the southwest borderlands. Funding will allow us to continue our Digital Desmadre initiative, using a digital platform and comedy to showcase Tucson’s next generation Latinx theatre makers. Also, to support a workshop led by Marga Gomez, a leader in the solo performance field and to continue our RAICES series honoring Tucson’s Mexican and Indigenous performance roots, featuring local creative heroes such as Gertie Lopez, Patricia Preciado Martin and Sylviana Wood.
